More about Me...

If you are reading this, I'm assuming it's your curiosity about my the creator of this acupuncture practice or if you want to allow this person in your home to treat your children!  Or maybe you've been a client for a while and are wanting to read more about me and my life outside of the clinic!  You can see from the photos above I love to be in nature especially with my coon hound mutt Sam.  He will pretty much follow me anywhere and generally does follow me everywhere!

I grew up in NC so I'm a long way from my home town (Sam too!).  I played a lot of sports growing up and I played basketball in college which is where my love for nutrition and working with kids came into being.  I worked a lot of basketball camps, took a lot of classes involving teaching kids and loved playing with the kids, I always thought I would be a coach and a PE teacher.  My senior year of college I interned with a nutritionist at a hospital and assisted her with starting up the first adolescent obesity camp to teach kids and their families the importance of exercise and nutrition and how to implement that into daily life.  This was the beginning of a winding journey (literally and metaphorically) to Portland, OR.  I had big plans to get my masters degree in nutrition and exercise science from SDSU.  So I embarked on a cross country road trip but I never made it to California!  I fell in love with Colorado, the rocky mountains are majestic for me and coming from a small town, I loved being somewhere I could bike.  After a series of bicycle accidents, the last one landed me in the hospital.  Fortunately I was taking a nutrition course at the time, the teacher referred me to an acupuncturist to help with my injuries from the crash.  I consider myself open-minded so I gave it a try.  After my injuries healed up, I kept going!  I had no idea acupuncture could help with all the other things my body was dealing with at the time.  I was fascinated with this medicine and I knew I wanted to study this and share this medicine with others.  What a great adventure it has been.  I moved to Portland for school at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

Today Sam and I spend a lot of time at Thousand-Acres dog park
