Acupuncture

Japanese Meridian therapy focuses on subtleties and gentleness. The point (no pun intended) is to relax and let your bodies brilliance utilize the treatment to work it’s magic. There are many benefits from acupuncture and many different reasons people seek treatment. Acupuncture, generates movement to help people get unstuck. Japanese style acupuncture is so gentle in fact, many babies, kids, and adolescents receive treatments. I’ve attended many trainings in the US and Japan studying Shonishin or “little children needle”. I also use non-needle techniques for kids (big and small) who are sensitive or prefer non-invasive treatments.

Moxibustion (commonly referred to as ‘moxa’)

Moxa is my favorite tool in the toolbox! It’s a plant commonly known as mugwort and comes in a variety of forms for our use. The picture on the left is know as ‘direct moxa’. where very fine, high grade moxibustion is used to stimulate the acupuncture point. Moxa is both warming and nourishing to the body, triggering a healing response. Research shows moxa creates a thermal effect, infrared healing, Moxa generally creates a feeling of relaxation for clients.

Body work

I practice Sotai, a gentle Japanese style of body work, using subtle exercises and structural integration. ‘So” means ‘to manipulate’ and ‘tai” means body, so a type of gentle “body manipulation” in the most excellent way.
